Project: Time Zones exhibition
Client: Tate Modern
Date: October 2004
Designer: James Goggin
‘Time Zones: Recent Film and Video’ is an exhibition of new international video art featuring artists such as Francis Alÿs, Yael Bartana, Anri Sala and Fiona Tan. A photograph documenting an in-situ gallery projection of Tan's ‘Saint Sebastian’ is used for both its matter-of-fact aesthetic, and for the concentrated gaze of its subject: a female Japanese archer, as visitors to the show subsequently discovered.
Design work for this show covered poster campaign, printed matter (invites etc.), exhibition guide and exhibition graphic design, the latter including an animated typographic wall projection (made with the assistance of écal student Julia Gorostidi). All typography is typeset in the custom-made Tate Mono font.
Practise also designed the exhibition catalogue for this show.
